Robert and Janet will bring a greater understanding of both horse and human developing a richer and more rewarding partnership. The small group offers wonderful support and increased learning opportunities through watching others and hearing about their challenges and successes. Changes in perspective and attitude can be made from the ground by auditing, from the saddle riding, and from the discussions with fellow guests.
We will focus on both groundwork and riding exercises, going deeper, creating a more responsive and happy horse. Each partnership will practice at their level, furthering their skills, understanding and abilities. Auditors will watch changes in riders and horses, join in the discussions, and take a new perspective home with them.
The days will be filled with new experiences bringing a greater sense of peace as well as improved ways of working both in groundwork and in the saddle.
Non-Rider Guests

Up to 18 horse lovers will share a resort bunkhouse in the outskirts of Nampa, Idaho. Dunn Rite Ranch will be blanketed with Autumn’s brilliant colors and brisk air. After a long hot summer, this is the perfect time to ride and enjoy fellowship in the bunkhouse or around the fire.
Learning to connect with your horse can require emotional growth in the rider. We have built the schedule for this retreat intentionally honoring the time needed to integrate the information we will be covering.
In between our coaching and discussion groups, we will have time for naps. Walks. Massages. Journaling. Reflection. Fires with hot chocolate.
-
There will be laughter, and kindness, and tears, and hugs.
-
There will be fire conversations on chilly nights with hot chocolate.
-
There will be spiritual comfort based in the cowboy way.
-
There will be walks and peaceful silence.
- There will be movies, and popcorn.
- There will be massages, and stretches, and naps, and reflection.
- There will be nourishing, thoughtful, delicious meals.
- There will be deep dive discussions around personal growth and spiritual lessons we learn from our horses.
- There will be safety to be honest with yourself and fellow riders.
In the mornings, we will use simple exercises both in groundwork and in the saddle to literally improve your communication with your horse. These will vary depending on the needs of both the horse and rider. The format will be both private and group lessons. At a minimum, we will help each partnership have a better connection through the reins and seat, hands and legs. Suppling as well as collecting movements will be part of the exercises. Keeping it simple while developing a greater feel is our philosophy.
In the afternoon, we will use a Working Equitation like course to bring fun and precision into the partnership.
The schedule on Saturday and Sunday will be something like this:
